Yelling at Clouds

Rocky Wirtz turned into Abe Simpson tonight. During a town hall event to discuss the future of the Chicago Blackhawks, Rocky was asked questions concerning the sexual assault of Kyle Beach in 2010. Rocky was having none of it, laying into two respected sports journalists in the process. That sort of disgusting behavior doesn’t just disappear, and people don’t just forget about it, because you don’t want to talk about it.

The Blackhawks have let go of all the high-ranking authority figures involved in that horrible chapter of their history, except for the man that signs the checks. Maybe that needs to change. This is no way to endure yourselves to a conflicted fan base.

Look to the future by atoning for your past, not by trying to sweep it under the damn rug! I’m sorry to call myself a Blackhawks fan right now, after what has led up to this debacle. We want to care about what happens on the ice, not what’s happening behind the scenes. When things like this occur, it’s hard to separate the two. If this is Rocky’s mentality, then it may just be time to sell the club and move on.

The saddest part, in the lead up to this scandal, before the on-ice performances started to dwindle, the Blackhawks appeared to be the go-to spot in the NHL. Now, they’re just a shining example of stupidity and selfishness. Exploding on a couple of journalists will not stop the questions from coming. It may bring even more questions they probably don’t want to answer.

Keep yelling at clouds, Rocky, and see where it gets you. You flipped things around after your father passed away and turned the Blackhawks into one of the best franchises in sports after being the worst for so long, only to crap all over that success. What are you going to do for an encore, blackout home games again? You’re a chip off the old block.
